What I like
about my job: |
I never know what I'm going to be covering throughout the day when I go into work in the morning. I also enjoy the responsibility of passing along stories that impact people, while making sure that I am accurate and objective. |
| |
|
| Hobbies, interests: |
I've grown up following baseball and the Milwaukee Brewers, and over a five-year period ending in July 2007, I went to a game at every Major League Baseball stadium. With several more ballparks opening in the coming years, my "stadium tour" will continue. The road trips also give me a chance to see plenty of cities and different sites around the country. I'm also a Packers fan and follow the Badgers basketball, football and hockey teams. |
| |
|
| Favorite movies: |
Comedies and sports movies. Singling out one or two is difficult. |
| |
|
| Favorite books: |
With my job, I actually read more newspapers than books, like the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and the Wisconsin State Journal. Most of the books I own are sports-related. |
| |
|
| Favorite recording artists: |
I'll pretty much listen to anything. |
| |
|
| Career: |
Mike moved to Appleton from Madison, where he was the assistant news director and a reporter at a news/talk station for nearly six years. After graduating from college, along with his father, Gene, he helped start a weekly newspaper in Stevens Point, The Portage County Gazette. While in Madison, Mike also helped cover high school sports at the Wisconsin State Journal on a part-time basis. |
