Authorities say an Appleton woman is being charged with a 5th OWI following a crash Monday afternoon that caused a portion of I-43 to be shut down.
According to the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened near State Highway 96 in Denmark on Monday, March 8 at 12:54 p.m.
Officials identified the driver as Brenda Tenpas of Appleton. The sheriff’s office says she lost control of her vehicle, went through a cable barrier in the median, and hit a semi truck, causing it to jackknife.
Tenpas had to be extradited from the vehicle. The sheriff’s office says Tenpas was found to be “significantly impaired” and is being charged with a 5th OWI.
Toxicology results are still pending and the crash continues to be investigated.
