Kimberly is agreeing to take over the only outdoor siren in the village.
Outagamie County is pushing communities to agree to maintain and replace them, when necessary.
Village Administrator Dani Block estimates the maintenance costs could be $2,000 a year. She says they’d also be on the hook for replacing the siren, in six to 11 years. She thinks that could cost up to $27,000, and it would be up to the village board to decide whether to keep a siren.
