A proposal to give Oshkosh students free bus rides is now a done deal.
The school board approved its funding for the GO Transit program. All kids in the district will be able to hop on for free.
Board Vice President Kelly Olmstead believes it will help more kids get to class. She says one student missed three days of school because he couldn’t afford to ride the bus, and it took his social worker three weeks to get a pass.
The city of Oshkosh is providing $30,000 a year for the next two years.
The district will pay $33,000 because legally, private school students need to have access to the free rides too.
