Workers will be fixing one of the locks in Appleton.
They’re going to rebuild part of the canal wall at Lock No. 4, below the College Avenue Bridge and by RiverHeath.
Fox River Navigation System Authority CEO Jeremy Cords says the wall is eroding. He says next month, they’ll re-stack another 450 feet of a wall below the hydro dam. He says the hand-placed stones have been there since at least the mid-1880s, and they haven’t received much attention since then.
The work is expected to cost just over $450,000.
