Wisconsin, Green Bay out of Softball World Series

The Wisconsin Badgers and Green Bay Phoenix were both ousted in the opening round of the College Softball World Series over the weekend.

Green Bay lost both of their games in the schools second ever trip to the tournament.  Minnesota got them Friday 10-1 in the opener before Auburn eliminated them in a 9-1 in Saturday's elimination game.

On other Phoenix note;  Head Coach Jean Rivett announced her retirement after 13-seasons with the team.

Wisconsin opened play Friday with a 1-0 win over Albany.  The Badgers then fell to the tournaments #1 overall seed Oregon 6-1 Saturday morning.  Later Saturday night, Wisconsin took the rematch with Albany 8-4 in an elimination game.  In Sunday's Championship Series, needing 2-wins, Wisconsin fell to Oregon 6-0 in game 1 ending their tournament run.
