Kimberly State Champs, Xavier to state (WIAA Round-up)

The WIAA State Softball tournament wrapped up over the weekend at Goodman Diamond in Madison.

For the 7th time in school history, Kimberly picked up a state title with a 6-5, 15-inning win over Westosha Central Saturday night.  It's the first title for Kimberly since their last trip to state in 2007.

It has been a very successful spring season for Kimberly athletics.  The Boys Track & Field team won the Division 1 title last weekend and the Baseball team is at state this upcoming week.

In the Division 2 Title Game, New London fell to Mosinee 2-0.  New London was looking for back-to-back title.

The Xavier Girls Soccer team is heading back to state.  The Hawks blanked Notre Dame 2-0 Saturday night to advance to Thursday's Division 3 State Semifinals.  They will take on Catholic Memorial.  It's the 10th appearance at State in the last 11-seasons for the Hawks.

Tuesday, the WIAA Spring Baseball tournament begins at Fox Cities Stadium.  Kimberly is back at the tournament for the first time since 2010.  They will open things with Hartford at 3:30 in the Division 1 quarterfinals.  If they win, they would play in the semi-finals later that night.
