Brewers visit St. Loius - Preview

A big series in the National League Central gets underway Friday night in St. Louis.  The first place Milwaukee Brewers visit the second place St. Louis Cardinals for the first of three.

After building a 6 ½ game lead in the division heading into July, the Brewers cushion is down to 2 games over the Cardinals.  St. Louis was even with the Brewers on a couple of occasions over the month but have built the margin back up a bit.

The two teams have met 9-times already in 2014 with the Cardinals holding a 5-4 edge.  Ten games remain between the teams including this series.

Friday – 7:15 First Pitch, 6:40 pregame on 1150 WHBY
    Milwaukee:  Wily Peralta (12-6, 3.56 ERA)
    St. Loius: Adam Wainwright (13-5, 1.92 ERA)
Saturday - 6:15 First Pitch, 5:40 pregame on 1150 WHBY
    Milwaukee:  Jimmy Nelson (1-2, 4.30 ERA)
    St. Loius: Justin Masterson (4-6, 5.51 ERA) numbers with Cleveland
Sunday - 1:15 First Pitch, 12:40 pregame on 1150 WHBY
    Milwaukee:  Kyle Lohse (11-5, 3.07 ERA)
    St. Loius: Lance Lynn (11-8, 2.98 ERA)

• Brewers (60-49)
• Cardinals (57-50) – 2 GB
• Pirates (57-51) – 2 ½ GB
• Reds (54-54) – 5 ½ GB
• Cubs (45-62) – 14 GB

Rest of the NL Central Schedule:
• Pittsburgh opened a 4-game series in Arizona Thursday with a 7-4 loss.
• Cincinnati opened a 4-game series in Miami Thursday with a 3-1 win.
• Chicago visits L.A for a 3-game series with the Dodgers starting Friday.
