Brewers Find a Way to Beat LA

Milwaukee's bullpen coughed up a 2-1 lead in the top half of the seventh inning, but  the Brewers would respond with seven unanswered runs down the stretch for a 9-3 victory Friday night at Miller Park.  Two errors by Dodgers (66-51) shortstop Justin Turner in the bottom half of the frame in the seventh lead to four runs for the crew and a 6-3 lead.  Milwaukee (64-52) would tack on three more in the eighth on a Rickie Weeks homerun to cap off the seven-run outburst.  The Brewers managed to hit just two balls past the Los Angeles infield during the four-run seventh as the Crew capitalized on multiple Dodger miscues.  After a walk by Weeks and an infield single by pinch hitter Mark Reynolds, Martin Maldonado laid down a perfect squeeze bunt that Dodgers reliever Brandon League ( L, 2-3)) could not handle which tied the game at three.  Later in the frame Carlos Gomez would give Milwaukee the lead as he reached on a chopper to Turner who threw low to first base.   A two-run single by newly acquired  left fielder Gerardo Parra finished the scoring in the seventh as the Crew opened up a 6-3 lead.  Milwaukee starter Kyle Lohse (ND, 11-6) went six innings giving up one run on six hits, while striking out two and walking two.  Jeremy Jeffress (W, 1-1) picked up his first win of the year in relief, pitching two-thirds of an inning in the seventh.  Milwaukee will face a former member of the Brewers as the Dodgers send Zack Greinke to the hill tomorrow, Greinke is 12-7 with a 2.71 ERA.  Meanwhile the Brewers will counter with recently recalled Mike Fiers to start in place of the injured Matt Garza.  Fiers has seen limited action this year with only seven innings pitched, where he has a 0-1 record with a 2.57 ERA.  First pitch between the Dodgers and Brewers is slated for 6:10 p.m. with the pre-game show getting under way at 5:35 p.m. on 95.3 FM/1570 AM WSCO.
