Packers back to work

The Green Bay Packers get back to work Monday as they now turn their focus to their next preseason game against St. Louis Rams.

Green Bay opened the preseason over the weekend with a 20-16 loss on the road to the Tennessee Titans.  The game was played in a massive rainstorm giving both teams an extra variable to work through.

Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy liked the challenge:

“I thought the weather conditions (Saturday) were outstanding,” McCarthy exclaimed.  “Ever since I’ve been involved in coaching, you do the wet ball drills probably once a week in training camp.  You always try to hit it during the course of the week when you get into the regular season.  To come out here and be able to perform in the real thing, this is a great experience for our football team.”

Among the standout performers for the Packers were RB James Starks and QB Scott Tolzien.  Starks carried the ball 6-times for 49-yards including a 20-yard touchdown run.  Tolzien showed his improvements connecting on 8 of 12 passes for 124-yards.

The Packers are on the field Monday though the workout is closed to the public.  They will have open practices Tuesday (Noon) and Wednesday (11:45).  Thursday is an off-day and the team will have another closed session Friday.  Saturday’s kickoff in St. Louis is 3:00pm.
