Packers visit Rams - Preview

The Green Bay Packers will take the field for the second time this preseason, Saturday, in St. Louis.

The Packers dropped their opener in Tennessee last Saturday 20-16 during a rain storm in Nashville.  Head Coach Mike McCarthy was open about how excited he was to have his team play in the adverse conditions.  This week in St. Louis, weather will not be an issue as the game is played in the Edward Jones Dome.

"In the early years, I'd prefer just to always play all four preseason games on grass," McCarthy proclaimed.  "Really, what I've learned is, its been good to go down and play St. Louis because obviously, you have to go to Minnesota, you use to, and Detroit."

Green Bay has two dome games in the regular season in 2014; Detroit in week 3 and New Orleans in week 8.  Minnesota is playing at TCF Bank Stadium, outdoors, until their new stadium is built in the a couple of seasons.

Last week, Aaron Rodgers, Jordy Nelson, and Eddie Lacy did not suit up.  Rodgers and Lacy are expected to play Saturday.  Nelson's status is still up in the air as he has been dealing with a hamstring injury.  His status will be determined Friday.

Nelson is heading into his 7th year; all have been with Aaron Rodgers as the starting quarterback.  The debate rings on to whether the starters/vets even need to suit up in the preseason.  Nelson could go either way.

"I don't think it really matters, to be honest, one way or another," Nelson stated.  "Last year, I saw two pays, I think, in Kansas City.  Same as none, they were two run plays.  I think I've been here long enough.  I'm not saying you don't need to play in them, cause I think if you're healthy you should and you don't want to miss time.  I don't think the chemistry between (Rodgers) and isn't going to be made or broken off of a few plays in St. Louis."

The Packers and Rams will tee it up Saturday afternoon at 3 PM.  Pregame coverage on 1150, WHBY begins at 1 PM.
