BBB offering advice to Craigslist renters

At least a half-dozen people became victims of an apartment rental scam in Green Bay and the Better Business Bureau says people need to be careful when responding to posts on Craiglist.

Police say the man offered apartments for rent, but they were actually vacant homes that were for sale. He would ask potential renters for a deposit, and steal their money.

Better Business Bureau spokeswoman Kimberly Hazen says people should do a background check on someone who posts a rental on Craigslist.

Hazen says it's also a good idea to get a copy of the seller's ID to make sure they are, who they say they are.
