Marquette drops Big East opener

The newly aligned Big East began conference play in Omaha, Nebraska as the Marquette Golden Eagles closed out 2013 with a road loss to the Creighton Bluejays 67-49 on Tuesday night.  The Golden Eagles never led in the contest, with Jamil Wilson and Chris Otule each scoring 10 points apiece to lead the way for Marquette.  The Bluejays made 13 three-pointers in the contest, including 11 made by the trio of Doug McDermott, Jahenns Manigat, and Ethan Wragge who went on to combine for 47 points in the win.  The win for the Creighton would be their first-ever Big East conference victory after joining the Big East this past summer.

Marquette returns to the Bradley Center on Saturday to take on the DePaul Blue Demons.  Coverage begins with pre-game at 12:30pm, tip-off at 1:00pm on 95.3-WSCO.
