Ribble, Petri react to State of the Union

Two congressmen from northeast Wisconsin are reacting to President Obama's call to raise the minimum wage.

The president pushed for a rate of $10.10 an hour, during his State of the Union address last night.

Republican Congressman Reid Ribble of Sherwood says it's an issue that individual states should handle. He says it's more expensive to live in New York than Appleton, so setting one rate for everyone isn't fair.

Congressman Tom Petri says the country should have a debate over how to lift people out of poverty. He says that includes investing in job training programs.

The Fond du Lac Republican says the Earned Income Tax Credit also helps minimum wage workers, by giving them more money at tax time. He says they might be able to change that system, so workers get that money....in each paycheck.
