Ribble backs deal on Farm Bill

The deal over the federal farm bill is a pretty good one for Wisconsin.

That's the feeling of Congressman Reid Ribble. The Sherwood Republican says the changes should benefit the dairy industry.

The House of Representatives approved the bill yesterday, and Ribble says they've been working on it for three years. He says the battles were different than what they typically see in Washington. Ribble says lawmakers didn't side with their political parties, but with their geographic areas instead.

Ribble believes the reforms to the food stamp program will save more money than expected. The Congressional Budget Office is projecting an $8 billion total, but Ribble says fewer people will need help, as the economy improves.
