Local Girl Scouts react to pro-life group

Local leaders of the Girl Scouts are disputing the claims made by an anti-abortion group.

Pro-Life Wisconsin says supporters shouldn't buy Girl Scout cookies, arguing that the national organization has ties to Planned Parenthood.

Lee Snodgrass is a spokeswoman for the Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes. She says it's unfortuantely a politically motivated boycott. She says they're a non-profit organization that doesn't have ties to reproductive rights groups, and doesn't take political stands.

Snodgrass also disputes Pro-Life Wisconsin's claim that most of the proceeds from cookie sales go to the national organization. She says that money stays with each girl's troop, and the regional chapter.

Snodgrass says the claims surface from time-to-time, and they're apparently connected to an interview that's about 10 years old. She says the former national CEO talked about a New York City chapter's work with Planned Parenthood.
