Appleton police launch app

A new app for smartphones and tablets will give people more access to information from the Appleton police department.

Sgt. Dave Lund says it lets people contact the department directly to report a tip. He says they can also see which police liaison officers are at a specific school. Lund says it includes cold case information, as well.

The app was developed by a California company, that primarily works with departments on the east and west coasts.

Lund says the firm contacted the Appleton department, as a way to break into the Midwest. He says Fargo, North Dakota is the only other department in the Midwest with this kind of app.
