Macy's offers matching grant for Pierce Park

A national fundraising program might benefit Pierce Park in Appleton.

Macy's will match donations to more than 550 parks across the country, up to an overall amount of $250,000.

City parks and recreation director Dean Gazza says they'd use the money to pay for improvements, including the renovation of the pavilion. That project is included in the city budget, but Gazza says the city has to borrow that money.

He says if they're able to raise some of the funding, it could also impact their plans for the second phase. He says that work would include improving walkways, lighting, and landscaping.

The fundraiser lasts until March 31. People can donate, at the registers at Macy's, in the Fox River Mall.
