Referendum projects starting in Appleton

School's out for summer in Appleton, and construction crews will be moving in at some schools.

Voters in the district approved a $25 million referendum in February for a number of maintenance projects and security upgrades.

District chief financial officer Don Hietpas says they plan to finish the classroom remodeling projects by mid-August. He says it will take longer to complete the additions at Huntley elementary and Einstein middle school, as well as some of the window replacement projects.

Hietpas says they held the referendum in February so they could develop the designs over the last several months, and be ready to start work, once the school year ended.
