Judge denies stay of same-sex marriage ruling

A federal judge denied a request by attorney general J.B Van Hollen this afternoon, to put her decision to throw out the state's same-sex marriage ban, on hold, while the state appeals.

Van Hollen argued that leaving the ruling in-place could lead to confusion, if the ban is later reinstated.

Judge Barbara Crabb said that she could issue a stay in the coming days.

Van Hollen also filed an emergency motion with a federal appeals court in Chicago, asking for the decision to be put on hold, that request hasn't been decided yet.
