Judge puts same sex marriages on hold

Same-sex marriages in Wisconsin are ending, a week after a federal judge ruled that the state's ban on gay marriage in unconstitutional.

Judge Barbara Crabb issued another decision Friday, saying that she's ruling for the same-sex couples that challenged the state's gay marriage ban, but the ruling won't take effect until the case is settled in courts.

Most county clerks in the state started issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples this week and the judge's ruling puts a halt to that.

Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen says he's pleased that the decision was placed on hold, while he appeals.  Crabb issuing the stay was difficult, "After seeing the expressions of joy on the faces of so many newly wedded couples."
