Walker reacts to minimum wage study

A study released this week shows the state could lose more than 16,000 jobs, if the minimum wage increases to $10.10 hour.

The Wisconsin Restaurant Association paid for the report. It shows that most of those jobs would be in the retail and food service industries.

Governor Walker opposes raising the minimum wage. He says it would be better to concentrate on job creation, and training, to help people get higher-paying jobs.

Walker's main opponent in this fall's election wants to increase the minimum wage. Democrat Mary Burke is proposing a three-step increase, over two years, from $7.25 an hour to $10.10.

Walker was in Green Bay yesterday for a campaign stop.
