Austin is state's oldest county board member

A longtime member of the Outagamie County board is the oldest county supervisor in the state.

Norm Austin of the town of Oneida turned 95, earlier this year. He says he's stayed on the board for over 50 years because he likes the job, and the people.

Austin won another two-year term, on the board, in April.

Austin says years ago, he didn't run for re-election, but voters returned him to the board, through a write-in campaign. He's also served as Oneida's town chair.

County clerks throughout the state confirmed that Austin is the oldest supervisor. A 92-year-old member of the Marinette County board didn't run for re-election, earlier this year.
