Group plans to reopen Menasha lock by Friday

Repair crews are working against the clock this week, to reopen Menasha lock, before the 4th of July.

Fox River Navigational System Authority CEO Harlan Kiesow says an upper hinge on one of the lock doors broke, over the weekend. He says they're bringing in a large crane to lift the door out of the lock, to fix it. Kiesow says experts were able to examine the door today, and think a Friday deadline is manageable.

Kiesow says the 4th of July is the busiest day of the year for the Menasha lock. He says boaters use it to watch the Neenah and Menasha fireworks, from Lake Winnebago.
