State tax collections down

Tax collections were down by 0.4 percent over the last 11 months in Wisconsin, but a local lawmaker isn't too concerned.

Republican Sen. Mike Ellis of Neenah says if the trend continues, the state budget would have a $30 million deficit. But he says that could be easily made up, through growth. Ellis blames the contraction on national economic trends.

Tax collections in Wisconsin were expected to grow by 1 percent, over the 11-month period.
