Prof reacts to fundraising in governor's race

A political scientist is weighing in on the latest fundraising numbers in the race for governor.

Governor Walker collected $8.2 million from January to June of this year. His main Democratic opponent, Mary Burke, brought in $3.6 million.

St. Norbert College professor Charlie Jacobs says Walker's big fundraising lead isn't a surprise. He says Burke's total is still substantial, and it speaks volumes about her ability to also raise money.

Outside groups are also expected to be heavily involved in the race, but Jacobs says it could depend on how things shape up for Burke. He says if polls show Burke isn't gaining traction, national groups will likely spend their money in other places.
