Man arrested in attempted abduction

Police arrested a 45-year-old man in an attempted abduction on Appleton's westside.

Officers stopped Dennis Mitchell in the 400 block of N. Division Street around 4:30 p.m. Friday. Police say he's from Missouri, but he had been living in Appleton for several months.

Sgt. Dave Lund says a 23-year-old woman was leaving work, around 11 p.m. yesterday, when a man grabbed her, while she was walking to her car.

There are a couple of bars in the area of Second and Outagamie streets.

Lund says the woman screamed, and struggled with the man, and that got the attention of people in the area. He says the man drove away, in a dark-colored SUV.

The woman wasn't hurt.
