Appleton neighborhoods might get AEDs

A program that led to automated external defibrillators being placed around the city of Appleton could expand into neighborhoods.

Former Ald. Earl Brooker says the first AED would go in front of a home, across the street from Erb Park. He says it would be in the terrace, next to a fire hydrant, in the 1900 block of N. Morrison Street.

Brooker says Appleton police and Gold Cross Ambulance Service approached his neighborhood watch group about the idea.

The AED would be in a box, and an alarm would sound if someone opens it.

The city council has to sign off on the proposal.
