Kaukauna muni services project planned in 2015

Several years after first studying the idea, Kaukauna leaders could start work on an expanded municipal services building.

The board of public works saw some updated plans last night.

Department director John Sundelius says the first phase would be a new building, along the power canal. He says the municipal offices and police department would be located there.

The first phase would cost about $8.1 million, and construction could start next year. The second and third phases would involve remodeling the existing building for the fire department, and some other city departments.

Tonight, the city council will take up a proposed contract for a design firm, to put together detailed plans.
