G.B. police clear officer in rough arrest

A Green Bay police officer did not use excessive force, while making an arrest, in the downtown last April.

That's what Green Bay police, and the state justice department determined, after reviewing a complaint against Officer Derek Wicklund.

The investigation came after a cell phone video from the incident went viral, on social media. Lt. Chad Ramos says investigators analyzed four other videos, from police cars, and surveillance cameras at two nearby bars. He says the situation was dangerous, because there was a large, emotional, crowd, at bar-time. He says Wicklund followed procedures, when he tried to get Joshua Wenzel under control. He says people should trust that they conducted a thorough investigation.

Ramos says Wenzel was waiving his arms, and yelling at an officer, when Wicklund took action. He says Wenzel's hand was too close to the other officer's gun.
