Lohse Roughed Up by Cardinals

Milwaukee starter Kyle Lohse gave up all nine runs to his former team as St. Louis beat the Brewers 9-7 Saturday night at Bush Stadium.  Lohse (11-6) was pushed up a day to start due to a blister on the hand of teammate Jimmy Nelson.  Nelson was scheduled to start Saturday night, however the Brewers (61-50) scratched him after he developed a blister on his right index finger.  Lohse was pulled in the fifth inning after giving up a two run double to Oscar Taveras that made it 9-5 Cardinals (58-51).  The Brewers starter was unable to record an out in that inning and finished giving up the nine runs, seven of which were earned on nine hits while walking three and striking out two.  Brandon Kintzler came on in relief for the Crew and was able to get out of that fifth inning jam without allowing any more runs.  Milwaukee then added two runs in the seventh to cut the St. Louis lead to 9-7, but the Brewers went scoreless over the final two innings.  Cardinals starter Justin Masterson who was acquired by St. Louis at the trade deadline improved to 5-6 on the year as he went six innings giving up five runs on seven hits.  Closer Trevor Rosenthal picked up his Major League leading 33rd save of the year as St. Louis trimmed the Brewers lead in the Central to two games.  John Lackey (11-7) will make his debut for the Cardinals in tomorrow's final game for the three game series.  The Brewers counter with Matt Garza (7-7) as they look to take the rubber game.  First pitch is scheduled for 1:15 p.m. with the pre-game show beginning at 12:40 p.m. on your Fox Cities voice of the Milwaukee Brewers 1150-WHBY.
