Primary turnout could be 15%

The primary is just over a week away, and a state official is putting out his estimate for turnout.

Government Accountability Board director Kevin Kennedy says it should be around 15 percent. He says that's about average, for a similar type of primary.

Kennedy says there isn't a big statewide race that has drawn a lot of attention. At the same time, he says there are competitive contests for the Democratic nomination for attorney general, and the final GOP candidate for the sixth congressional district. He says in some areas, there are hotly contested primaries for seats in the Legislature.

The primary is on August 12.
