Fox Cities spared some recession wage cuts

A national report shows many of the jobs created as the economy came out of the recession, pay significantly less than those that were lost.

But a local economic development official says the Fox Cities were spared much of the impact.

The report shows that a lot of the lost jobs were in manufacturing, and many of the new ones are in the hospitality or administrative support sectors. Those positions pay about $14,000 less. Larry Burkhardt of the Fox Cities Regional Partnership says the strong local manufacturing sector was a big help.

Burkhardt says many local manufacturers are still looking to hire more workers.
