Concept plans in place for library

The first potential design for a new Appleton Public Library is now on paper.

The library board got a chance to see the concept plans yesterday.

The building would be on the site of Trinity Lutheran Church and Fox Banquets, and the project would cost cost nearly $37 million. If space is included for the Appleton parks and recreation department, and the Outagamie Waupaca Library System, the price tag climbs to almost $40 million.

Bill Robison of Engberg Anderson Architects presented the concept design yesterday. He says they could use a lot of glass to take advantage of the views near the Fox River.

The library board could make a recommendation on the design next month.
