NWS: Potential El Nino could impact winter

While The Old Farmer's Almanac is out with its predictions for the upcoming winter, the National Weather Service is waiting on whether an El Nino develops in the Pacific Ocean.

Meteorologist Roy Eckburg in Green Bay says if it's a larger weather pattern, northeast Wisconsin could see above-average temperatures. He says a smaller one could result in colder weather.

Eckburg says people shouldn't expect to have to go through a winter that's similar to the last one. He says while it's always possible, it's highly unlikely.

The projections from The Old Farmer's Almanac call for a cold, dry winter in northeast Wisconsin. Temperatures could be just below average, in the first three months of next year.
