Group talks about minimum wage referenum

A group demonstrated outside of Congressman Reid Ribble's downtown Appleton office today, to support raising the minimum wage.

There's a proposal to increase it from $7.25 an hour, to $10.10 over a two-year period. Kevin Kane of Citizen Action of Wisconsin says it's an issue that's gaining traction. He says 13 counties and cities will weigh in, in November, through referendum questions. Those communities include Appleton, Neenah, and Menasha.

Kane says the change would give minimum wage workers an extra $114 per week.

Some business owners say they would have to cut jobs, or go out of business, if the minimum wage is raised that high.
