Mall expecting big Black Friday crowds

Stores are opening their doors early for Black Friday this year, and retailers are expecting big crowds throughout the night.

Fox River Mall general manager John Bergland says some stores are opening as early as 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving, and others are set to open at 10 p.m. and midnight. Bergland says there will surely be several times when customers flock to different stores, but he doesn't think the earlier-than-ever start times will lead to more shoppers.

Even with the early openings, Bergland says Friday morning between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. will still likely be their busiest time.

Bergland says it's challenging to find enough people to staff the stores from tomorrow evening through the normal holiday closing time on Friday night.
