Shoppers take advantage of early start
Retailers in the Fox Cities saw big crowds in their first foray into Thanksgiving night shopping.
Stores let shoppers get a jump-start on Black Friday for the first time, and plenty of them took advantage. Some stores at the Fox River Mall in Grand Chute started opening at 8 p.m., and the entire mall was open at midnight. The parking lot was packed, late at night.
The lots at nearby big box stores, and ones on Appleton's southeast side, were also filled with cars.
The official start to the Christmas shopping season, Black Friday, will continue, with various sales running throughout the day.
