Olde Oneida St. bridge delay continues
It's going to be at least a little while longer, before a bridge in the Appleton flats will be ready to open.
The Olde Oneida Street bridge closed in April, and construction crews rebuilt the concrete deck.
City public works director Paula Vandehey says tests showed that there are issues with the steel substructure, so now they're trying to figure out what to do next. She says they could try to strengthen the steel, using welds and grout, or replace it.
Vandehey says no matter what they do, they won't be able to reopen the bridge before January.
The work started in April.
