Pantries benefiting from deer donations

Local food banks will thousands of pounds of donated venison, thanks to generous hunters and the companies that process the deer.

Peter Ellenz owns Cedar Creek Marketplace and Catering, and he says they've already distributed about 1,000 pounds of venison hamburger, but the final total will be between 3,500 and 4,000 pounds.

Ellenz says about ten local food banks benefit from the donated venison, and Cedar Creek is glad to be part of that.

Ellenz says about 10 percent of the deer they process have been donated by hunters.
