DNR looking at new deer registration system
The DNR is looking at some new options to manage the deer hunt.
Big game ecologist Kevin Wallenfang says they might allow hunters to register their deer over the phone.
Under that system, hunters would answer a few questions about when they shot the deer, and report its sex.
Wallenfang says they won't make a decision right away. He says DNR officials want to hear from hunters and people who run the current registration stations.
Wallenfang says some of them like registering their deer, because it brings more people into their business, but others think it's a hassle.
