Thrivent match day generates nearly $300K

The community stepped up again this year, to max out the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans match day, for the Salvation Army Fox Cities.

Thrivent match day coordinator Peter Gianoupolus says donations at the red kettles easily topped the company's $125,000 limit. He says the community donated $174,000 for a combined contribution of $299,000.

Gianoupolus says Thrivent also topped the $2 million mark for matching donations over the nine-year history of the special day.

Salvation Army Captain Randy Tooley is in his first year with the Fox Cities chapter. He says he heard about the Thrivent match, but it was great to see it in person. Tooley says he couldn't believe how much the employees got involved.

Tooley says the match day plays a huge role in trying to reach the chapter's $1.2 million fundraising goal.
