Hansen pushing redistricting changes
A nonpartisan group would redraw the state's political boundaries every 10 years, under a plan from a Green Bay
lawmaker.
Democratic Sen. Dave Hansen is pushing a bill that would give that responsibility to the Legislative Reference Bureau.
Right now, the Legislature handles the task, and Hansen says it isn't working properly. When the lines were redrawn last year, Republicans controlled the Senate and Assembly, and they drew maps that give the GOP a better chance of holding their majorities.
Hansen says he hopes the bill gets a fair chance, even though his party is in the minority.
Hansen says no Republicans have signed onto his proposal yet.
