Winnebago Co. looking for dog park land
Winnebago County's dog park near Oshkosh is too small, and overcrowded, so county park officials are trying to find space for a new one, in the Neenah-Menasha area.
Parks Director Rob Way says they've actually been looking for the new facility for about 12 years, and he hopes they can find a suitable site soon.
Way says officials have ruled out more than two dozen previous sites. He says some were former landfills, with too much liability, and others had too much wetlands space on them.
Way's hoping someone will donate some land that can work for the dog park. He says they need at least 10 acres.
Way says a dog park in the northern part of the county would alleviate overcrowding in the Oshkosh park.
