Dem. Senator supporting gov. mansion upgrade
Proposed kitchen renovations at the governor's mansion are drawing some criticism, but a Democratic senator says he's supporting the plan.
Sen. Fred Risser of Madison is a member of the state building commission. He says the experts insist code changes and equipment upgrades justify the nearly $500,000 price tag.
Risser says the building commission will consider the request today.
If it's approved, he's hoping efforts to raise private donations will help to repay some of the money the state has to borrow to pay for the project.
