Governor reopens mining debate
When lawmakers return to the Capitol, Governor Walker
wants them to tackle the mining issue.
He says they need to pass a bill that streamlines the permitting process, to help open an iron ore mine in Bayfield and Iron counties.
Walker re-launched the mining debate this morning, at Valley Plating and Fabricating in Green Bay.
He wants lawmakers to introduce the version of the bill that the Assembly approved last year. He says there will be some changes, to deal with issues that have come up since then.
Walker blames politics for the lack of support in the Senate. He argues that Democrats were under a lot of pressure from national groups that didn't want him to get credit for creating new jobs.
