Appleton charging for overflow trash
People with a lot of trash will end up paying more to get rid of it in Appleton this year.
Appleton is getting rid of its monthly overflow garbage pick-up this month.
Public works foreman Todd Nett says they'll collect bulky items, like couches, every other week, but they won't pick-up bagged trash that isn't in a garbage can.
He says they were collecting 1,000 to 2,000 bags of trash every day, through the overflow program. Nett says they'll only pick up the loose bags if they have a $4 sticker. He says getting a larger containers cost an extra 80 cents per week.
Nett says the change is a better use of city resources.
