Murphy starts new job at Capitol

A new lawmaker from the Fox Valley says he's ready to get to work, one day after being sworn into the Assembly.

Republican Dave Murphy represents the 56th district. He's taking over for Rep. Michelle Litjens, after she didn't run for re-election.

Murphy says he was amazed yesterday, as he drove to the Capitol, knowing that he's now part of the state government. But he says now it's time to get to work, and he's looking forward to tackling some of the state's biggest issues, including a bill to streamline the state's mine permitting process.

Murphy says they could create thousands of jobs by passing the mining bill, and that's what the state needs right now.
