FVTC opens culinary theater
Fox Valley Technical College officially opened its new culinary theater this morning.
Chef Jeff Igel says the $1.8 million dollar facility is state of the art, with three video cameras and 80-inch monitors. He says that give students in any part of the 120-seat auditorium a great view of cooking demonstrations. He says it's head and shoulders above any of the other eight culinary programs in Wisconsin.
Igle says the Jones Dairy Farm offered a matching grant for the facility, and they named the theater after the business. He says initially, they weren't sure how they would meet that financial challenge, but several of their vendors agreed to chip in $10,000 each, over a five-year period. Igel says the school paid for the rest of the project.
Ten classes will start using the culinary theater next week.
