Private sector jobs up in Dec.
December was a good month for the job market in the state.
Preliminary figures from the state department of workforce development show the state added 4,500 private sector jobs last month, marking the second straight month of gains. The public sector was down 1,300 jobs in December, bringing the state's overall total to 3,200 new jobs.
There were fewer new positions in the private sector in November, than originally thought, according to the state's revised numbers. Companies added 6,300 jobs that month, and that's 4,000 less than the early total.
That brings the total number of new private sector jobs, in the first two years of Governor Walker's term, to 37,500. He's sticking to his pledge of adding 250,000 by 2015.
